According to Chairman Jasveer Singh Garhi, the case pertains to protests organized by various SC/ST organizations in Amritsar against the dismissal of an individual from their job. During the protests, a police officer reportedly made caste-based remarks, which came to public attention through social and print media.

The Commission’s intervention highlights its commitment to monitoring and addressing incidents of caste discrimination and ensuring accountability among law enforcement officials. The report from SSP Harpal Singh is expected to provide clarity on the circumstances surrounding the remarks and the steps taken by the police during the protest.
