Laljit Singh Bhullar Resigns After Arrest in Punjab Case

Chandigarh/Amritsar: Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria has accepted the resignation of former Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, following his arrest in connection with the alleged suicide case of Punjab State Warehousing Corporation District Manager Gagandeep Singh Randhawa.

The development marks a major political turn in Punjab, as Bhullar was arrested from Mandi Gobindgarh and subsequently taken to Amritsar for further investigation.

Case Registered Under BNS Sections

Police registered a case on March 21 under sections 108, 351(3), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Along with Laljit Singh Bhullar, his father Sukhdev Singh Bhullar and personal assistant Dilbag Singh have also been named as accused in the FIR.

Authorities stated that the action was taken during the ongoing probe into the alleged suicide of the district manager, which triggered political controversy in the state.

CM Bhagwant Mann Reacts

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann reacted to the arrest through a social media post, stating that the rule of law applies equally to everyone.

He said that Punjab is like one family to him and strict action will be taken against anyone violating the law, regardless of position, influence, or personal connections. The Chief Minister also emphasized that favoritism and illegal demands have no place in the government’s agenda.

Political Impact

Bhullar’s resignation and arrest have intensified political discussions in Punjab, with opposition parties demanding accountability while the government maintains that legal procedures are being followed transparently.

Police officials confirmed that further investigation in the case is ongoing.
