To ensure flawless arrangements for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match between Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans scheduled for March 31, newly appointed Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Secretary and Member of Parliament Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, along with PCA Vice President Deepak Bali, conducted an inspection of the cricket stadium at Mullanpur, New Chandigarh.
During the visit, Mohali Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal and SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans, along with other officials, carried out a detailed review of various stadium facilities. The inspection covered seating arrangements, access routes, parking facilities, stadium blocks, and overall security measures.
Focus on Crowd Management and Fan Experience
Officials also held detailed discussions on crowd management strategies aimed at ensuring a smooth and enhanced match-day experience for spectators. Special emphasis was placed on public convenience, safety protocols, and seamless entry and exit arrangements.
Strengthening Punjab’s Position as a Major Sports Host
Highlighting the importance of proper planning, Meet Hayer stated that the successful and organized conduct of IPL matches would strengthen Punjab’s reputation as a host for major sporting events. He added that efficient management would help the state attract prestigious tournaments in the future.
He also mentioned Punjab’s selection to host the Asian Champions Trophy (Hockey) later this year, calling it a significant achievement for the state’s sports infrastructure.
Multiple IPL Matches Scheduled at Venue
Advocating strong coordination between civil and police administration, PCA Vice President Deepak Bali said that apart from the March 31 match, three additional IPL matches will also be held at the stadium. He described this as a matter of pride for the Punjab government and noted that the venue is steadily emerging as a global destination for prestigious sporting tournaments.
