New Delhi: In a significant move that could redefine the future of school education in Punjab, Harjot Singh Bains led a high-level delegation from the School Education Department to the India AI Impact Expo 2026 held at Bharat Mandapam.

The visit marked a strategic push to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into Punjab’s vast educational infrastructure, aiming to modernise classrooms and improve learning outcomes for lakhs of students across the state.

The delegation included senior officials such as School Education Secretary Sonali Giri, PSEB Chairman Dr. Amarpal Singh, and DGSE Arvind. During the expo, the team held detailed discussions with global technology leaders including Google, Deloitte, Intel, OpenAI, NVIDIA, and Dell Technologies.

The core focus of these discussions was on implementing AI-powered solutions within Punjab’s school system. Topics included personalised adaptive learning, foundational literacy and numeracy enhancement, AI-enabled assessments, multilingual learning tools, and teacher support systems.

The delegation also interacted with representatives from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and the Ministry of Education to understand India’s broader AI strategy, digital public infrastructure, and governance models that could be adapted for Punjab’s classrooms.

In addition, the Education Minister engaged with leading AI ecosystem organisations such as Wadhwani AI, Gnani.ai, and Bodh AI to explore AI-driven educational applications tailored for school-level implementation.

A key highlight of the visit was Bains’ interaction at the Punjab Startup Pavilion, where he engaged with sector-specific AI startups nurtured under state government initiatives. These startups signal Punjab’s ambition to emerge as a hub of educational technology innovation.
