President Murmu Reviews IFR 2026 in Vizag

Droupadi Murmu, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, today reviewed the International Fleet Review 2026 (IFR 2026) off the coast of Visakhapatnam, highlighting India’s expanding maritime capabilities and its strong commitment to global naval cooperation.

Embarking on INS Sumedha, designated as the Presidential Yacht for the occasion, the President inspected an impressive fleet of 71 Indian and foreign vessels anchored along the coastline. The fleet included 45 Indian Navy ships and 19 visiting warships, along with vessels representing the Indian Coast Guard, Merchant Navy, and maritime research organisations.

Grand Display of Naval Strength

The review featured a ceremonial steam past by warships and submarines, precision flypasts by naval aircraft, sailing vessel parades, helicopter-led search-and-rescue demonstrations, and high-intensity combat drills conducted by Marine Commandos. The spectacular display showcased operational readiness, technological advancement, and India’s growing maritime strength.

Message of Global Maritime Unity

Addressing naval personnel and international delegates, President Murmu stressed the importance of unity, trust, and collective responsibility among nations to ensure a stable and secure maritime order.

She described the presence of ships flying different national flags and sailors from across the world as a powerful symbol of global solidarity. Referring to the theme “United through Oceans,” she said the International Fleet Review 2026 sends a strong message of cooperation and shared commitment to peace and security in the international maritime community.

The event reaffirmed India’s role as a key maritime power and a responsible partner in fostering regional and global naval collaboration.
