A major encounter took place in Punjab’s Jalandhar after a shootout erupted between police and an alleged member of the Kaushal Chaudhary Gang.
According to initial reports, the accused opened fire on a police team during a naka (checkpoint) operation in the Foldiwal area. Acting on secret information, police had set up barricades to intercept suspected criminals. When confronted, the gangster reportedly began firing at the officers.
In retaliatory firing by the police, one shooter identified as Akash sustained a bullet injury. He was immediately taken into custody and shifted for medical treatment.
Wanted in Mohali Murder Case
Sources revealed that Akash is wanted in connection with the murder of a gym owner in Mohali. Police officials believe he has been actively associated with criminal activities linked to the Kaushal Chaudhary gang.
Senior police officials stated that further investigation is underway to determine the full extent of his involvement and whether other accomplices were present at the scene.
The incident has heightened security in the region, with authorities intensifying their crackdown on organized crime networks operating in Punjab.
