A police constable has been suspended following allegations of misbehavior with a family during a dispute over car parking at Crystal Chowk in Amritsar.
According to information, the incident occurred after a car was reportedly parked on the wrong side of the road. The vehicle owner, identified as Raman Kumar, had parked the car and gone with his family to eat at a nearby eatery. During this time, traffic police arrived at the spot and initiated action to seize the vehicle and issue a challan.
An argument reportedly broke out when the car owner insisted on moving the vehicle himself, while police personnel proceeded with enforcement action. The situation escalated, leading to verbal abuse and a tense confrontation. Family members, including women, attempted to calm the situation and prevent further conflict.
The family alleged that one of the police personnel slapped a woman during the altercation. Other police officials intervened to control the situation and advised the constable to focus on duty. Subsequently, the vehicle was towed away using a towing van.
As the situation deteriorated, Traffic ADCP Amanjit Kaur reached the spot and took immediate action. After reviewing the matter, she ordered the suspension of the accused police constable.
Further inquiry into the incident is expected as authorities assess the circumstances surrounding the allegations.
