PM Modi to Visit Assam on Feb 14, Inaugurate Key Infrastructure Projects

Prime Minister PM Narendra Modi will visit Assam on February 14 to inaugurate multiple development projects across the state. The visit is expected to mark a significant milestone as the Prime Minister will land and take off from the Northeast’s first highway-based emergency landing strip at Chabua in Dibrugarh district.

As per official information, the Prime Minister will initially arrive at the Chabua Air Force Base before proceeding to Moran, where he will use the specially designed highway airstrip on the Dibrugarh-Moran stretch. The programme is also expected to feature fighter aircraft landings and aerial fly-pasts, highlighting the strategic importance of the facility.

During the visit, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the newly built Kumar Bhaskarvarman Bridge over the Brahmaputra River, improving connectivity between Guwahati and North Guwahati. He will also open the temporary campus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Guwahati.

In addition, 100 electric buses funded by the Central Government will be handed over to the state to strengthen sustainable urban transport. A hyperscale data centre at Amingaon will also be launched, aimed at boosting digital infrastructure and technological growth in the region.

Apart from project inaugurations, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to address a meeting of party functionaries in Guwahati.

The visit underscores the government’s focus on strengthening infrastructure, connectivity, defence preparedness, and digital development in the Northeast.
