Delegation-level talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney hold are currently underway at Hyderabad House in New Delhi, marking a significant step in strengthening the India-Canada Strategic Partnership.
During the high-level meeting, both leaders are reviewing the progress achieved across diverse sectors under the India-Canada Strategic Partnership framework. The discussions are expected to focus on expanding cooperation in key areas including trade and investment, energy security, critical minerals, agriculture, education, research and innovation, and enhancing people-to-people ties.
The two Prime Ministers will also exchange views on major regional and global developments, reflecting the growing importance of India-Canada collaboration in shaping international stability and economic growth.
Prime Minister Mark Carney is on a four-day official visit to India from the 27th of last month. Having assumed office in March last year, this marks his first full-fledged bilateral visit to India as Prime Minister of Canada.
Earlier today, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Prime Minister Carney in New Delhi. In a social media post, Dr. Jaishankar appreciated Carney’s commitment to charting a forward-looking and constructive partnership between the two nations.
Later in the day, Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Carney are scheduled to attend the India-Canada CEOs Forum, aimed at boosting business collaboration and unlocking new investment opportunities between the two countries.
The ongoing talks are being seen as a crucial opportunity to deepen economic, strategic, and diplomatic engagement between India and Canada amid evolving global challenges.
