Keylong (Lahaul-Spiti): A meeting of the Patient Welfare Committee of the Regional Hospital Keylong was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office auditorium in Lahaul-Spiti district on Tuesday. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Kiran Bhadana, who also serves as Chairperson of the committee.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the availability of medical facilities, supply of medicines, building repairs, sanitation arrangements, and basic patient services at the hospital. The Deputy Commissioner directed concerned officials to ensure quality healthcare services and proper treatment for every patient visiting the hospital.
She emphasized that the primary objective of the Patient Welfare Committee is to enhance transparency, accountability, and service quality in government healthcare institutions.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed the Public Works Department to complete the improvement work of the hospital access road at the earliest. She also directed officials to expedite civil works related to the installation of a lift in the hospital building and asked that electrical wing officials be included in the next review meeting.
Officials informed the committee that the state government has deployed specialist doctors at Regional Hospital Keylong, including pediatricians, ophthalmologists, ultrasound specialists, and anesthetists, enabling residents to access specialized healthcare services locally.
The committee revealed that a total expenditure of ₹24.34 lakh has been incurred in the current financial year to improve patient services. A proposed budget expenditure of ₹47.36 lakh for the financial year 2026–27 was unanimously approved during the meeting.
It was also shared that the committee generated an income of ₹22.01 lakh during the financial year 2025–26, with an estimated income of around ₹36.80 lakh projected for 2026–27. Officials were advised to increase funds through fixed deposit schemes.
Between April 2025 and February 2026, Regional Hospital Keylong provided healthcare services and treatment to 12,895 patients.
The Deputy Commissioner further instructed hospital management to conduct Patient Welfare Committee meetings twice a year, preferably beginning in February, so that project approvals can be completed on time and works executed efficiently during the working season.
District Council Chairperson Beena Devi, Panchayat Pradhan Sonam Jangpong, Block Medical Officer Dr. Roshan Lal, along with officials from various departments and committee members, were present at the meeting.
