Pakistan Knocked Out of T20 World Cup Despite Win Over Sri Lanka

Pakistan Out of T20 World Cup After SL Win

In the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, Pakistan were knocked out of the tournament despite securing a thrilling five-run victory over Sri Lanka in their Super Eights Group 2 clash at Pallekele.

Batting first after being put in, Pakistan posted a formidable 212 for 8 in 20 overs. The innings was powered by a brilliant century from Sahibzada Farhan, who scored 100 runs, and an explosive 84 from opener Fakhar Zaman. Their strong partnership laid the foundation for a commanding total.

Sri Lanka responded with determination, finishing at 207 for 6 in their 20 overs. Captain Dasun Shanaka led from the front with an unbeaten 76, but the hosts fell just short of the target.

Despite the win, Pakistan failed to qualify for the semifinals. Both Pakistan and New Zealand ended the Super Eights stage with three points, but New Zealand advanced to the last four due to a superior net run rate.

Meanwhile, India are set to face the West Indies in their final Super Eights match at Eden Gardens at 7 PM IST. The outcome of the match will determine India’s progression in the tournament. In another Group One fixture, South Africa will take on Zimbabwe at the Arun Jaitley Stadium at 3 PM IST.

The semifinals of the T20 World Cup are scheduled for March 4 and 5, with the final set to be played on March 8.
