Operation Prahar Phase-2 Search at Amritsar Railway Station

Under the directions of Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, IPS, Punjab Police has launched Operation Prahar Phase-2 against gangsters and anti-social elements to strengthen law and order and enhance public safety across the state.

Following the guidelines of Police Commissioner Amritsar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, IPS, special search operations and heightened vigilance have been intensified across the city. The campaign aims to foil criminal intentions, maintain effective law and order, and create a sense of security among the public.

As part of the operation, extensive search drives were carried out at sensitive locations including railway stations, bus stands, airports, shopping malls, and crowded markets. Strict day-and-night checkpoints were also established at key entry and exit points of the city.

Under the leadership of DCP Law and Order Alam Vijay Singh, and supervision of ADCP City-2 Sririvennela, IPS, and ACP North Gagandeep Singh, along with SWAT teams, a special search operation was conducted at Amritsar Railway Station. Passenger safety was ensured through thorough checking of luggage and bags using metal detectors, scanners, and sniffer dogs to detect prohibited or illegal items.

In addition, special barricading was carried out in inner and outer areas of the city, where vehicles were checked meticulously. Action was taken against suspicious individuals, vehicles with black films, hooters, triple riding on two-wheelers, vehicles without number plates, and possession of illegal weapons. Challans were issued wherever violations were found.

Commissionerate Police Amritsar appealed to the public not to believe in rumors and to immediately inform the police about any unattended object or suspicious activity in their area. Punjab Police reaffirmed its commitment to protecting life and property round the clock while maintaining a friendly approach toward law-abiding citizens and taking strict legal action against anti-social elements.

During the operation, police teams conducted 131 raids, apprehending 116 individuals. On the first day of Operation Prahar, police recovered six pistols, ten cartridges, 232 grams of heroin, ₹11.93 lakh drug money, 140 liquor bottles, and one car.
