A delegation of journalists from Odisha, visiting Himachal Pradesh on a 10-day tour organized by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), met Governor Kavindar Gupta at Lok Bhawan today. During the meeting, the delegation shared their experiences and engaged in a detailed discussion on the rich culture and traditions of Himachal Pradesh.
Addressing the journalists, Governor Gupta highlighted the importance of cultural exchange programs under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” initiative. He emphasized that India’s diversity of languages and dialects reflects unity in diversity, which is the nation’s true beauty. He cited similar cultural exchange initiatives promoted during his tenure in Ladakh and noted that such programs strengthen national unity and integrity.
Governor Gupta outlined the state’s development priorities, citing ambitious infrastructure projects such as the Atal Tunnel. He also referenced the improvements in road, tunnel, air, and rail connectivity in Jammu & Kashmir, highlighting the role of infrastructure in connecting remote and border areas to the mainstream, which enhances national growth and image.
He stressed empowering the rural economy by promoting local products, boosting medicinal plant cultivation, supporting natural farming initiatives, and strengthening drug-free programs. He also emphasized integrating tourism with sports, particularly winter sports, and providing youth with skill development opportunities to channel their energy positively.
On industrial development, the Governor noted the importance of strengthening industries while fostering inclusive dialogue with all sections of society to promote collective progress in the state.
Earlier, PIB Assistant Director Sanjeev Sharma expressed gratitude to the Governor and presented him with an honor. The delegation also visited Lok Bhawan, appreciating the preservation of this historic heritage building. Governor’s Secretary C.P. Verma was present on the occasion.
