NSUI Hosts Anti-Chitta Cricket Tournament in Shimla, Harish Janartha Attends

Anti-Chitta Cricket Event Held in Shimla

An Anti-Chitta Cricket Mahakumbh was organized by National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) Shimla Urban at the Police Line Bharari Ground in Shimla to raise awareness against drug abuse, particularly the menace of “chitta.”

Shimla Urban MLA Harish Janartha attended the event as the Chief Guest. He was warmly welcomed by NSUI students, who honored him and other dignitaries with flower garlands and mementos on stage.

Encouraging the participants, MLA Janartha motivated the young players and, on students’ request, also stepped onto the field to play cricket. His participation was widely appreciated and served as a morale booster for the youth. He emphasized that sports instill discipline, confidence, and a positive direction in life while acting as a powerful tool to keep young people away from drugs.

Addressing the gathering, he delivered a strong message against the growing threat of chitta, stating that drug abuse destroys the future, energy, and families of youth. He urged young people to stay away from all forms of addiction and instead engage in sports and constructive activities.

The MLA also assured that he would extend full support for future sports competitions and youth initiatives whenever required.

Among those present were Congress leader Satya Verma, Ankush Thakur, Avneesh Chauhan, and several other dignitaries.

The tournament was not merely a sporting event but a significant step by youth towards building a drug-free society in Shimla.
