Newborn Baby Stolen from Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, Police Launch Investigation

Newborn baby Kidnapped from Guru Nanak Dev Hospital

A shocking case of newborn baby theft has once again surfaced at Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Government Medical College, triggering panic within the hospital administration and raising serious concerns over security arrangements.

According to reports, Rani Kaur, wife of Lovepreet from Dhand Kasel village, had been admitted to the hospital’s gynecology ward, where she gave birth to a baby boy four days earlier. Family members alleged that an unidentified woman had been visiting the ward for the past three days, claiming to be an acquaintance and gradually gaining the family’s trust.

The woman reportedly interacted regularly with the family and stayed close to the newborn, making her presence appear normal. The child’s aunt, Sandeep Kaur, stated that on Wednesday the woman told them her relatives were waiting outside and that she would briefly take the baby to show them before returning.

However, she left the ward carrying the newborn and never returned. When the family grew suspicious, they searched the hospital premises but found no trace of the woman or the child.

The hospital administration and police were immediately informed. Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr. IPS Grover confirmed that the incident occurred on March 15 and that CCTV footage is currently being scanned to identify the suspect. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.

Government Medical College Principal Dr. Rajeev Devgan said he was not immediately aware of the incident but urged the public to remain vigilant, take responsibility for their children’s safety, and avoid trusting strangers to prevent such incidents in the future.

The incident has once again highlighted concerns regarding patient safety and hospital security systems.
