Accelerating development works in the Shahpur Assembly constituency, MLA and Deputy Chief Whip Keval Singh Pathania inaugurated several public welfare projects worth crores of rupees in Makroti and Kuthman areas on Sunday.
During the visit, he dedicated the Makroti–Bhairon road and bridge constructed at a cost of ₹4.80 crore, along with a tube well developed under the Bentlu–Kuthman Lift Drinking Water Scheme costing ₹36 lakh, to the public.
Addressing a gathering in Makroti, Pathania said the newly constructed road and bridge would provide improved and convenient transportation facilities to nearly 10,000 residents of several panchayats in the region. He noted that the road had been a long-pending demand of local residents and would significantly strengthen social and economic development in the area.
He also announced that bus services would soon be started on the route, providing major relief to villagers by improving connectivity.
The MLA said the state government is continuously working to strengthen roads, drinking water supply, and other basic infrastructure in rural areas. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the government is prioritizing public welfare projects despite limited resources.
Expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister for sanctioning funds for the road project, Pathania said the government’s goal is to ensure development reaches the last person in society.
Later, while inaugurating the newly constructed tube well in Kuthman, he stated that around 1,000 residents of Kuthman, Bhedi, Nagol, and Vaidi villages would now receive uninterrupted drinking water supply. He added that the region had been facing drinking water shortages for years, and the new facility offers a permanent solution to the problem.
He emphasized that the state government is committed to providing clean and adequate drinking water to every village so that rural residents do not face difficulties in accessing basic amenities.
On the occasion, Pathania also announced financial assistance of ₹11,000 each for seven Mahila Mandals of Makroti through the Shahpur Welfare Society.
Former Panchayat Pradhan Ajay and Congress OBC leader Suresh Pataku welcomed the chief guest and thanked the MLA for ensuring adequate funding for development works in the panchayat area.
Several officials and dignitaries, including Executive Engineer PWD Neeraj Jaswal, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti Amit Dogra, Executive Engineer Electricity Amit Sharma, BDO Rait Kamaljeet, and other departmental officers and local residents, were present during the event.
