Mathura Boat Capsize 10 Punjab Pilgrims Dead, 22 Rescued

A tragic boat accident occurred near the holy city of Mathura in Vrindavan area, where a group of pilgrims from Punjab met with a devastating mishap after their boat capsized in the Yamuna River.

According to police officials, the incident took place when the boat carrying devotees collided with a pontoon bridge that was reportedly under repair. The collision caused the boat to overturn, leading to a major tragedy.

Authorities confirmed that at least 10 pilgrims have died, while 22 others were rescued safely by rescue teams. The pilgrims were traveling from Punjab and were en route from Vrindavan to Devraha Baba Math for religious darshan.

Immediately after the incident, police and rescue teams reached the spot and launched a large-scale rescue operation. A team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) is actively involved in search and rescue efforts.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took immediate cognizance of the incident and expressed deep condolences to the families of the deceased. He directed officials to speed up relief operations and ensure proper compensation for the victims.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also expressed grief over the tragedy. In his social media post, he stated that a group of 32 pilgrims from Jagraon was traveling to Vrindavan when the accident occurred, and he is in contact with the Uttar Pradesh government regarding the situation.

Rescue operations are still ongoing, and officials are continuing to search the river to ensure no one is missing.
