Maalamaal Weekly Sequel Confirmed, Paresh Rawal Returns

Maalamaal Weekly Sequel Confirmed

The 2006 comedy hit Maalamaal Weekly is back in the spotlight as preparations for its sequel officially begin nearly two decades after its release. The film, set in a small village and revolving around a lottery ticket, became a fan favorite for its unique humor and memorable characters.

Veteran actor Paresh Rawal, who played the iconic role of Leelaram in the original film, has confirmed that the sequel is in the works. In a recent interaction, he stated, “Yes, it’s true. I am doing this film.” His confirmation has sparked excitement among fans eagerly waiting for the comedy franchise to return.

The first installment featured stellar performances by the late Om Puri, along with Rajpal Yadav and Riteish Deshmukh, whose comic timing added to the film’s massive appeal. The movie was directed by Priyadarshan, known for delivering several successful comedy entertainers.

Interestingly, in 2012, Priyadarshan released Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal, which was considered a reboot of Maalamaal Weekly. However, the upcoming project is expected to serve as a proper sequel to the original story.

On the work front, Paresh Rawal is also in the news for Bhagam Bhag 2, the sequel to the 2006 hit comedy. This time, audiences can expect changes in the star cast. Actor Govinda, who appeared in the original, will not be part of the sequel. Instead, Manoj Bajpayee is set to play a key role, bringing a fresh dynamic to the film.

With nostalgia running high and confirmation from Paresh Rawal himself, anticipation for the Maalamaal Weekly sequel is steadily building among Bollywood fans.
