In a major legal development, the Rouse Avenue Court has acquitted Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Vijay Nair in the controversial Delhi liquor policy case investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
The court ruled that the prosecution failed to establish the charges and found no evidence of criminal conspiracy or wrongdoing in the case related to the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy.
Court Cites Lack of Evidence
Special Judge Jitendra Singh delivered the verdict, stating that there was no comprehensive conspiracy or criminal intent established during the trial. The court observed significant gaps in the chargesheet and noted that several allegations were not supported by witness testimonies or credible material evidence.
The judge clearly remarked that there was no prima facie case against Manish Sisodia and that Arvind Kejriwal had been implicated without substantial supporting material.
CBI Investigation Questioned
The court also raised serious concerns about the investigation process adopted by the CBI, stating that the agency failed to conduct a fair, impartial, and logical investigation. It emphasized that a fair trial is only possible when the investigation itself is unbiased and evidence-based.
The prosecution was unable to substantiate its claims, and the court concluded that the allegations of criminal conspiracy were baseless.
Major Relief for AAP Leadership
The verdict comes as a significant relief for the leadership of the Aam Aadmi Party, which has consistently maintained that the case was politically motivated.
With this acquittal, the court has cleared all charges against the senior party leaders in the CBI case related to the Delhi liquor policy controversy.
