A tragic incident has shaken Kapurthala district, where a 29-year-old trader allegedly died by suicide at his residence just two days before his wedding.
The deceased has been identified as Karan Kumar Mahajan, a resident of Shiv Colony in Kapurthala. His wedding was scheduled to take place in two days, and the family had been busy with preparations and celebrations. On the same day, a pre-wedding ceremony (Shagun) had also been held at the house, with relatives and friends participating in the festivities.
According to family members, Karan went to the third floor of the house around 3 pm on Friday and reportedly hanged himself in the bathroom. When he did not return for a long time, family members began searching for him. Upon opening the bathroom door, they found him hanging, triggering panic at the scene.
The family immediately brought him down and rushed him to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
On receiving information, the City Police reached the spot and initiated an investigation. Preliminary reports suggest that Karan was the only son of his family and was engaged to a woman from Jalandhar.
Family members stated that Karan was a money lender and businessman operating in Jolly Market, Kapurthala, and that his business was running well.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. The sudden tragedy has left the family, relatives, and the local business community in deep shock and grief.
