A shocking criminal incident has been reported from Siwan district, where unidentified assailants shot a local journalist late at night. The injured journalist has been identified as Ramesh Singh, who works as a reporter for the Hindi daily Hindustan Dainik from the Pachrukhi block.
According to reports, Ramesh Singh sustained a bullet injury to his abdomen and is said to be in critical condition.
The incident took place near Bhawani Mod under the Pachrukhi police station area. Sources said that Singh was returning home on his bicycle after attending a wedding ceremony when two unidentified बाइक-borne attackers, who were reportedly waiting nearby, opened fire at him. He collapsed on the road, bleeding heavily, while the attackers fled the scene.
The injured journalist was immediately rushed to Siwan Sadar Hospital for initial treatment. Due to the seriousness of his condition, he was later referred to Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) in Patna, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Doctors have described his condition as critical.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Siwan Superintendent of Police Purn Kumar Jha reached the hospital to assess the situation and gather details. The SP confirmed that a spent bullet shell was recovered from the crime scene. Based on preliminary information about some suspects, police teams have launched raids to apprehend those involved.
Police officials have assured that the accused will be arrested soon. An investigation is underway, and security has been tightened in the area.
The incident has sparked anger among journalists and local residents, who have demanded swift action against the perpetrators and stronger protection for media professionals.
