Journalist Association Punjab (Regd.) Amritsar Unit Elects New Body for 2026 Unopposed

Sri Amritsar Sahib, December 20: The Amritsar unit of Journalist Association Punjab (Registered), a leading body of journalists, has elected its new office-bearers for the year 2026 through consensus. In the monthly meeting of the 2025 session, held under the directions of state president Joginder Angoorala and in the presence of state vice president Gurjinder Mahal, discussions were held on the election process for the upcoming term.

With the approval of all members, unit patron Kulbir Singh first announced the dissolution of the existing body, after which the fresh election process was initiated unanimously. For the third consecutive term, Malkeet Singh Brar was unanimously chosen as president for one year (2026). Alongside, Kulbir Singh was appointed general secretary, Krishan Singh treasurer, Sarabjit Singh Ladda senior vice president, and Dalbir Singh secretary.

For the women’s wing, Simran Rajput (Urban) and Gurinder Kaur (Rural) were unanimously appointed presidents. Ranjit Singh and Paramjit Singh were inducted as executive committee members, while Narinder Singh was made vice president, Harjit Kaur rural secretary (Ajnala), Tarun Kumar vice president, and Khushboo Sharma advisor.

With the consent of all journalist members, Dwarka Nath Rana was unanimously elected chairman of the Amritsar unit. Addressing the gathering, state vice president Gurjinder Mahal urged the government to resolve journalists’ longstanding issues on priority, including free bus travel for accredited journalists, toll plaza relief, and access to basic government facilities. The newly elected team assured state president Joginder Angoorala of united efforts to work in the interest of journalists and to strengthen the association.
