International Sikh Council Celebrates Women’s Day in New Delhi, Honors Women Leaders

International Women’s Day Celebrated in Delhi

Under the leadership of Bibi Tarvinder Kaur Khalsa, President of the International Sikh Council, the United Women Wing celebrated International Women’s Day in New Delhi with great enthusiasm.

The event focused on encouraging women to progress in religious, social, and political spheres. Discussions were held to inspire women to take leadership roles and actively contribute to society. Several entrepreneurial women were honored for their service and dedication toward community welfare.

During the event, Bibi Tarvinder Kaur Khalsa was presented with the prestigious Mai Bhago Award. Expressing gratitude, she stated that the honor was not merely an award but a responsibility to follow the path of Mai Bhago and work towards unity, integrity, and service to the community.

The program strongly emphasized promoting Punjabi culture and heritage. Special discussions were held about preserving the Punjabi language, encouraging mothers to teach and speak Punjabi at home, and ensuring that future generations remain connected to their roots.

Cultural performances including Punjabi Giddha added vibrancy to the celebration. Competitions were organized for women in age groups 15–35, 35–55, and 55–75 years, where participants answered questions related to Sikh history and traditional Punjabi attire.

The colorful event was successfully organized with the support of the United Women Wing team members, aiming to empower women and promote Punjabi identity across all sections of society.
