Intergenerational Workshop Held in Kullu to Empower Senior Citizens

Intergenerational Workshop Organized in Kullu

A one-day intergenerational workshop was organized at Dev Sadan, Kullu under the Protected Old Age Programme to promote senior citizen welfare, health awareness and stronger coordination between younger and older generations.

The workshop aimed to enhance the health, social empowerment and active participation of senior citizens while encouraging meaningful dialogue between youth and elders.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Nishant Thakur attended the event as the chief guest. He described senior citizens as invaluable assets to society, emphasizing that their experience and wisdom guide the younger generation. He stressed the importance of respect and care for elders within families and society, noting that in the era of social media, the growing gap between generations is causing social challenges.

Focus on Health and Social Security

During the workshop, discussions were held on healthcare needs, social security, mental health, active lifestyles and the role of senior citizens in society. Special emphasis was placed on strengthening communication and cooperation between youth and elders to bridge the generational gap.

Experts provided awareness sessions on health issues, social participation, cyber fraud prevention and various government welfare schemes to ensure senior citizens can benefit from available facilities and protect themselves from scams.

Former IAS officer Hans Raj Thakur, District Welfare Officer Girdhari Lal Sharma and District Language Officer Promila Guleria were among the distinguished attendees.

At the conclusion of the program, participants emphasized the need for regular workshops of this kind to help senior citizens lead dignified and active lives while narrowing the widening gap between generations.
