Shimla district police have busted a well-organized inter-state drug supply network operating through a location-based delivery system, following a major breakthrough in an NDPS Act case registered at Jubbal Police Station.
The case, registered as FIR No. 07/2026 under Section 21 of the NDPS Act, began on February 9, 2026, when a police patrol team intercepted a young woman near Bauli Nala on National Highway-705 during routine checking. The accused, identified as Naveen Lata (20), a resident of Boli village in Jubbal tehsil, was found in suspicious circumstances, and 13.46 grams of chitta (heroin) were recovered from her possession.
Following the arrest, police launched an extensive investigation involving detailed analysis of mobile data, call detail records (CDR), and social media activities. Digital evidence revealed links between the accused and drug traffickers based in Punjab, with the network extending to several local youths in the Jubbal–Rohru region.
During interrogation, investigators discovered that the accused woman’s role was to hide narcotics at different locations, capture photographs and videos of the hidden spots, and send them to the main supplier. The supplier would then share the exact locations with customers, enabling drug delivery without direct physical exchange. Police described the operation as a sophisticated location-based drug distribution model.
Based on digital leads, a special investigation team conducted multiple raids in Punjab and successfully arrested the network’s main supplier, identified as Lukas (34), son of Prem, from Amritsar. Police recovered two mobile phones and seven SIM cards from his possession, which are currently undergoing forensic examination.
Officials stated that preliminary investigations confirm the network was operating at an inter-state level using technological tools to facilitate narcotics trafficking. Interrogation of the accused is ongoing, and efforts are underway to identify and arrest other members linked to the syndicate.
Shimla district police have indicated that strict action against drug trafficking will continue and further arrests in connection with the network are expected soon.
