During the second half of March, India is witnessing significant changes in weather patterns. While the beginning of the month saw discomfort due to warm conditions in northern India, temperatures have now dropped, bringing pleasant and cooler weather.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), continuous western disturbances and upper-air system activities are causing rainfall and snowfall in hilly regions and intermittent rainfall in plains. This pattern is expected to continue into mid-April, providing relief from the harsh summer heat.
Regional Weather Forecast:
- Northwest India: Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand may experience light to moderate rain or snowfall. Winds could reach 30–50 km/h, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty conditions.
- Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi: Expect light rain with thunderstorms and strong winds on March 26. A new western disturbance around March 29 may trigger another spell of rain and gusty winds.
- Rajasthan: Weather changes expected on March 28–29, with intermittent rain.
- Northeast India: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura may see light to moderate rainfall, with isolated heavy showers.
- Eastern India: West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Gangetic West Bengal may witness moderate to widespread rainfall.
- Central India: Madhya Pradesh and parts of Chhattisgarh may see scattered rainfall.
- Southern India: Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Rayalaseema, and Kerala may experience light to moderate rain.
Delhi Weather:
The national capital is currently experiencing moderate weather conditions. Over the next three days, maximum temperatures are expected to rise by 3–4°C, bringing them closer to normal levels without causing significant discomfort.
The IMD has advised citizens to stay alert for possible thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds, especially in northern and northeastern regions.
