India on High Alert as PM Modi Calls Emergency CCS Meeting Amid US-Israel Strikes on Iran

PM Modi Calls CCS Meet Over Iran-US Crisis

India has moved into full alert mode amid escalating tensions in the Middle East following US and Israeli strikes on Iran. According to top government sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for an emergency meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) upon his return to New Delhi tonight.

After completing his two-day official visit, PM Modi is expected to land at Palam Airport in Delhi around 9:30 PM. The high-level security meeting will be held immediately afterward, highlighting the seriousness of the situation.

The emergency meeting comes in the wake of recent US airstrikes on Iran and subsequent missile attacks targeting Gulf nations, raising fears of a broader regional conflict. The developments have significantly heightened geopolitical tensions across the Middle East.

The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) is the highest decision-making body of the Indian government on matters related to national security, defense policy, foreign affairs, and strategic operations. The committee is chaired by the Prime Minister and includes the Defence Minister, Home Minister, External Affairs Minister, and Finance Minister.

The National Security Advisor and chiefs of the three armed forces are also expected to brief the committee with intelligence updates and strategic assessments.

India, with its strong diplomatic ties and significant diaspora presence in the Gulf region, cannot remain unaffected by the ongoing crisis. Reports suggest that four key issues are likely to dominate discussions in the CCS meeting:

  1. Security of Indian nationals in Gulf countries
  2. Impact on oil supply and energy security
  3. Regional diplomatic strategy
  4. Military preparedness and internal security review

With tensions escalating rapidly, the emergency CCS meeting is seen as a crucial step in safeguarding India’s national interests amid the unfolding Middle East crisis.
