Amritsar, December 20, 2025: Under Project Jivan Jot 2.0, led by District Programme Officer Sri Tarnjeet Singh and the Child Protection Unit (DCPU), a special checking campaign targeted child begging around Sri Harmandir Sahib and nearby areas to protect children from exploitation and safeguard their rights.
Campaign Highlights
- Rescue Action: Three begging children identified and safely rescued near the Golden Temple; counselled, linked to welfare schemes for rehabilitation, education, and reintegration while ensuring legal rights.
- Project Jivan Jot 2.0: Punjab government initiative under Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljeet Kaur aims to provide safe environments and brighten children’s futures by curbing begging and all forms of exploitation.
