Haroli to Become India’s First Assembly Constituency with 100% Drinking Water and Irrigation Coverage by 2027: Deputy Chief Minister

Una, December 25 — Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said that by 2027, Haroli Assembly Constituency will become the first assembly constituency in the country where every household and every field will have access to water, achieving 100 percent coverage of drinking water and irrigation facilities. He stated that decisive work is being carried out in a planned and phased manner to achieve this goal.

He added that along with basic amenities, priority is being given to comprehensive and future-oriented development in key sectors such as education, sports, and health in the Haroli constituency, so as to build a strong foundation for future generations while meeting present needs.

The Deputy Chief Minister was addressing the annual prize distribution ceremony as the chief guest at the Ban Bihari Nand Brahmachari Government Senior Secondary School in Saloh, Haroli constituency, on Thursday. On the occasion, he honoured students who excelled in academics, sports, and cultural activities, and announced a grant of ₹31,000 for cultural programmes.

Emphasis on Integrated Development of Education, Sports, and Health

He said that government schools across the state are being developed in a phased manner on the CBSE pattern. Under the Rajiv Gandhi Model Government Day-Boarding School Scheme, a modern and quality educational infrastructure is being created. He emphasized that the integration of education and sports infrastructure makes youth competitive at national and international levels. The Haroli school is being developed as a Rajiv Gandhi Model Government Day-Boarding School.

Synthetic Athletics Track to be Built in Roda at a Cost of ₹10 Crore

To strengthen sports infrastructure, Mr. Agnihotri announced that a state-of-the-art synthetic athletics track will be constructed in Roda village of Haroli constituency at an estimated cost of ₹10 crore, which will help nurture local sporting talent.

Strong Foundation in Education

The Deputy Chief Minister said that robust and future-ready educational infrastructure has been developed in Haroli. The area now has 32 government senior secondary schools, three government colleges, two ITIs, a law college, a nursing college, a triple ITI, and a Kendriya Vidyalaya. He informed that the construction of the Dr. Simmi Agnihotri PG Degree College building will be completed soon at a cost of ₹12 crore, while an indoor stadium is being built at Khad College at a cost of ₹13 crore. Work is also underway to construct a day-night football stadium in Khad.

From Water Scarcity to a Water-Secure Constituency

Mr. Agnihotri said that work is progressing rapidly on the Lift Drinking Water Scheme Beat Area Phase-2, costing ₹75 crore. Under this project, water will be lifted from the Swan River to an 11-lakh-litre capacity tank at Palakwah, from where irrigation facilities will be provided to about 50,000 kanal of land across 28 villages through a 43-km main pipeline and an 80-km distribution network.

He noted that under Phase-1, water supply through 18 tube wells was completed earlier at a cost of ₹44 crore, transforming the Beat area into a major hub of cash crops. Additionally, a new irrigation scheme worth ₹100 crore has been approved under the MCAD component to strengthen irrigation systems across three clusters—Tahliwal, Haroli, and Khad—using modern technology. Water supply schemes costing ₹24 crore have also been completed in Pubowal, Baliwal, Haroli, and Nagnoli.

Development Works Worth Crores Underway

The Deputy Chief Minister said an automatic vehicle testing centre is being set up in Roda at a cost of ₹5 crore. A traffic park costing ₹8 crore and a rest house worth ₹7 crore are under construction, while a helipad costing ₹13 crore is also being built at a fast pace. A bus depot in Haroli will be opened soon.

Focus on Strengthening Health Services

He stated that concrete steps have been taken to strengthen healthcare services in Haroli. Fifteen specialist doctors have been posted at the Haroli hospital. Community Health Centres have been established at Beeton, Kungarat, and Dulehar, and Primary Health Centres at Kuthar and Baliwal. At present, 35 doctors are serving the people across the constituency. Construction of the PHC at Saloh will be completed soon. A satellite centre of PGI Chandigarh is also being set up at Malahat, which will provide advanced and specialized healthcare services locally.

Entire Haroli to Be CCTV Covered

The Deputy Chief Minister said Haroli will become the first constituency in the state to be fully covered by CCTV cameras. Cameras are being installed at all entry points, main roads, intersections, markets, and important locations. He added that the government is taking strict action against drug abuse, with stringent measures against those involved and continuous public awareness efforts.

Government as Family for Orphaned Children

He reaffirmed that the government stands as a family for orphaned and destitute children, ensuring their care and welfare.
