Sri Amritsar Sahib, February 21: In remembrance of the martyrs of the historic Saka Sri Nankana Sahib of 1921, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) organized a Gurmat Samagam at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib.
The religious congregation was held to pay tribute to the Sikh martyrs who sacrificed their lives to free Sikh shrines from corrupt mahants and restore management to the Panth. Following the Bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, Bhai Varinder Singh’s jatha performed Gurbani Kirtan. The Ardas was offered by Bhai Baljit Singh, while the sacred Hukamnama was read by kathavachak Bhai Harmittar Singh.
Addressing the sangat, Bhai Harmittar Singh paid heartfelt tributes to the martyrs and said that Sikh warriors displayed immense courage and determination to liberate the birthplace of Guru Nanak Dev Ji from the control of self-styled mahants. He emphasized that their sacrifices became a milestone in uniting the Sikh community and strengthening Panthic institutions.
He further urged the community to draw inspiration from these great martyrs to safeguard Sikh institutions and uphold collective responsibility. During the program, Dhadi Bhai Gurpreet Singh’s jatha also connected the sangat with Sikh history through traditional narration.
Prominent officials present at the event included Sri Darbar Sahib Manager S. Jaspal Singh Dhaddae, Additional Manager S. Bikramjit Singh Jhangi, S. Jasbir Singh, S. Gurtindpal Singh Qadian, and Assistant Manager S. Dilbagh Singh.
The Gurmat Samagam concluded with collective prayers and renewed commitment to preserving Sikh heritage and values.
