Gurdaspur: In a major counter-terrorism operation, the Special Security and Operations Cell (SSOC) Amritsar, in coordination with central agencies, has uncovered an ISI-sponsored BKI terrorist module in Gurdaspur. The module, reportedly operated by foreign handlers, led to the arrest of two suspects.
Authorities recovered significant materials pointing to planned high-impact attacks on public safety, including:
- 5 hand grenades
- 2 specialized detonators
- PTT timer with coder and decoder
- 9 V batteries
- IED materials (1 kg high explosive with shrapnel)
- 1 Baofeng walkie-talkie with cables and trigger mechanism
The recoveries indicate preparations for potentially large-scale attacks, raising concerns about public safety in the region.
An FIR has been registered under the relevant sections of the Explosive Substances Act at PS Kalanaur, Gurdaspur. Investigations are ongoing to establish forward and backward linkages, including connections with foreign handlers and local support networks.
