Gurdaspur: A serious road accident occurred today on the Babri Bypass in Gurdaspur district, creating panic in the area. A bus traveling from Gurdaspur to Amritsar suddenly went out of control and overturned onto a car parked on the opposite side of the road.
According to initial reports, the bus lost control and climbed over the divider before rolling onto the car. Fortunately, the car driver managed to escape by opening the door in time, saving his life.
DSP Tajinder Singh of Gurdaspur confirmed that the bus was carrying 25–30 passengers, of whom around 25 were injured in the accident. The scene turned chaotic immediately, and local residents rushed to assist the victims.
The injured were quickly taken to Gurdaspur Civil Hospital and some private hospitals. Dr. Rohit reported that 17 injured people, including 3 children, have been admitted. Thankfully, all injured are currently out of danger and receiving treatment.
Police have launched a detailed investigation into the accident. While the exact cause of the bus losing control remains unclear, authorities are considering mechanical failure and driver negligence as potential factors.
The administration has assured that steps are being taken to prevent such accidents in the future and to ensure road safety along this route, which connects major destinations in the region.
