The suicide case of Punjab State Warehousing Corporation District Manager Gagandeep Singh Randhawa has taken a new legal turn as the deceased’s mother has approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking an independent postmortem examination outside Punjab.
In a petition filed before the High Court, the family requested that the postmortem be conducted at an external medical institution such as Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, PGI Rohtak, or All India Institute of Medical Sciences Bathinda under the supervision of an independent medical panel. The court is scheduled to hear the matter tomorrow.
The case intensified following the arrest of former Punjab minister Laljit Singh Bhullar in connection with the suicide case. Meanwhile, the deceased’s wife, Upinder Kaur, has demanded a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation and insisted that the postmortem be conducted under the supervision of a Judicial Magistrate.
She alleged that several key accused persons are yet to be arrested, which is hindering the truth from emerging. The family has stated that it is ready to submit all available evidence, including phone recordings and documents, to whichever agency is assigned the investigation.
In another major development, Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria has officially accepted the resignation of Laljit Singh Bhullar, which he had submitted on March 21.
The controversy began after the alleged suicide of Randhawa on March 21, 2026, triggering political and administrative turmoil across Punjab, with serious allegations being levelled against Bhullar and his family.
