A tragic incident was reported near Kali Palton Bridge in Ambala, Haryana, where a 22-year-old woman lost her life after allegedly being run over by a car driven by a police personnel who was reportedly under the influence of alcohol.
According to eyewitnesses, the victim, identified as Nikita, was travelling in an e-rickshaw when a speeding car hit the vehicle, causing her to fall onto the road. It is alleged that the accused policeman did not stop and instead ran over the woman, leading to her death on the spot.
Locals present at the scene caught hold of the accused and later handed him over to the police. Eyewitnesses claimed that the officer appeared to be intoxicated at the time of the accident. The e-rickshaw driver also stated that the car was moving at a high speed.
Protest at Civil Hospital
Following the incident, the victim’s family and angry residents created a ruckus at Ambala Civil Hospital, demanding strict action against the accused. There were heated arguments and reports of scuffles between the public and police officials.
Due to the escalating tension, police reportedly closed the hospital gates temporarily, while protesters continued to demand justice for the deceased.
The family remains in deep shock and has called for immediate and strict legal action. Meanwhile, police have maintained silence over the matter, and further investigation is underway.
