The growing drug menace in Punjab has once again shocked the state after a tragic incident emerged from Sultanpur Lodhi in Kapurthala district, where four young brothers from the same family lost their lives due to drug addiction.
The heartbreaking incident has left the entire region in mourning and sparked anger among local residents over the increasing spread of narcotics.
Fifth Brother Battling for Life
According to available information, the family’s fifth and last surviving son is also battling drug addiction and is currently in critical condition. He initially experienced severe breathing difficulties and was admitted to the Civil Hospital in Sultanpur Lodhi.
Due to his deteriorating condition, doctors later referred him to a medical college hospital in Amritsar, where he is presently undergoing treatment.
Public Anger and Demand for Action
The tragedy has triggered grief within the family and outrage among villagers and nearby residents. Locals have demanded strict action from the administration against drug traffickers and urged authorities to make every possible effort to save the life of the surviving youth.
Residents claimed that nearly 20 young people in the area have died due to drug abuse in recent years, highlighting the seriousness of the crisis.
Police Assure Crackdown
Kapurthala SSP Gaurav Toora assured that a large-scale search operation will be conducted across the region to identify individuals involved in drug trafficking and supply networks.
He stated that strict legal action will be taken against those responsible and that police efforts to eliminate drug abuse will be intensified.
