Dinesh Bassi Slams Improvement Trust’s Negligence, Turns Prime New Amritsar Land into Garbage Dump

Amritsar: Former Improvement Trust Chairman Dinesh Bassi launched a scathing attack on the administration and government over the mismanagement, filth, and illegal encroachments on prime Trust land in New Amritsar. Once considered the city’s posh, planned locality, the area has now become a massive garbage dump due to the Trust’s gross failure.

Bassi highlighted that this valuable Trust property, connected by a 45-foot wide road directly linking to New Amritsar from the back side and reserved for MIG flats, is being ruined through negligence and alleged collusion involving XEN Amandeep Singh and other officials. Crores worth of land near surrounding flats is being wasted amid unchecked encroachments.

The crucial shortcut road to local homes is now buried under garbage heaps, with trucks dumping waste freely, scrap buses parked nearby, and fires lit at night spreading toxic smoke across the area—visible up to the highway after 6:30 PM, exacerbating breathing difficulties alongside emissions from a nearby factory.

Local residents gathered in large numbers with Bassi at the site, voicing outrage against the Trust and administration. Bassi warned of protests and dharnas if immediate action isn’t taken to protect public convenience, safety, and health, demanding clearance of the dump, removal of encroachments, and restoration of New Amritsar’s identity.

Present at the scene were Mahajan, Mandeep Bhullar, Rinku Thekedar, Baljinder Chahal, Pawan Rakhra, Dilbag Singh, Vikram Mahal, and Vicky, who joined locals in urging strict action.
