Chandigarh: Two major firing incidents in broad daylight have created panic across Chandigarh, raising serious concerns about law and order in the city. The shocking events, including a murder near a gym in Sector 9 and another shooting at Punjab University, have left residents alarmed and demanding stronger security measures.
The first incident took place in Sector 9, where a young man was shot dead near a gym. According to initial reports, the victim died on the spot after sustaining gunshot injuries, while another युवक was critically injured and immediately rushed to PGI Hospital for treatment.
As soon as information about the incident was received, police teams reached the spot, sealed the area, and launched an investigation. Eyewitnesses reported chaos and panic in the locality as gunshots echoed, causing people to run for safety.
In a separate incident reported a day earlier, unidentified miscreants opened fire near the parking area of the Botany Department at Punjab University. Police sources said two assailants arrived on a scooter, fired two rounds, and fled the scene immediately.
The back-to-back firing incidents have raised serious questions regarding Chandigarh’s law and order situation. Residents have expressed concern over public safety, while authorities have assured strict action.
Police officials confirmed that investigations in both cases are underway. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined to identify the accused, and special teams have been deployed to track down those involved.
Authorities have also appealed to citizens to remain vigilant as efforts continue to restore public confidence and ensure safety in the city.
