DAV Public School, Lawrence Road celebrated the auspicious occasions of Maha Shivratri and Rishi Bodh Utsav with deep spiritual fervour and reverence through a special assembly on campus.
The celebrations commenced with a sacred Havan, during which students and staff chanted Vedic mantras to invoke divine blessings for global peace and prosperity. The atmosphere resonated with devotion as the assembly continued with a soulful prayer and melodious bhajans dedicated to Lord Shiva.
To enhance students’ understanding of the festival’s spiritual essence, a speech was delivered highlighting the symbolism of Lord Shiva and emphasizing the triumph of self-discipline, righteousness, and inner strength. The assembly also marked Rishi Bodh Utsav, commemorating the enlightenment of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati on the sacred night of Shivratri—an event that sparked a movement against social evils and superstitions and promoted education and reform.
Dr Pushpinder Walia, Manager of the School and Principal of BBK DAV College for Women, shared an inspiring message on the occasion. She lauded Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati’s immense contribution to education and society, stating that his enlightenment on Shivratri continues to serve as a guiding light for humanity. She encouraged students to draw inspiration from his philosophy and pursue their goals with dedication and integrity.
Principal Dr Pallavi Sethi also addressed the gathering, reflecting on the transformative power of Shivratri and the importance of inner peace. She emphasized that the teachings of Lord Shiva and the path shown by the Maharishi inspire individuals to remain resilient, compassionate, and truthful in all aspects of life.
The event concluded with a collective pledge by students and staff to embrace positivity, kindness, and moral values in their daily lives, leaving the school community spiritually enriched and inspired.
