Renowned nutritionist Dr. Archita Mahajan, a qualified dietitian, child care expert, and trained yoga teacher, has highlighted the powerful health benefits of a simple kitchen ingredient—cloves.

Dr. Mahajan, who has been honored by the Punjab Government, Himachal Government, and Kavinder Gupta, explained that cloves are often underestimated despite their strong medicinal properties. Commonly used in tea and spices, cloves hold an important place in Ayurveda and traditional home remedies.

She emphasized that consuming 1–2 cloves before bedtime can offer multiple health benefits. Nighttime is when the body undergoes repair and recovery, making it an ideal time for such natural remedies to work effectively.

Cloves contain eugenol, a compound known for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Chewing cloves at night can improve digestion, reduce gas and acidity, and relieve constipation. It also helps in maintaining oral hygiene by reducing gum swelling, toothache, and bad breath.

Additionally, cloves act as a natural remedy for cough and throat irritation by clearing mucus and soothing the respiratory tract. Rich in antioxidants, they help boost immunity and support liver detoxification.

Dr. Mahajan also noted that cloves have calming effects on the nervous system, which can reduce stress and promote better sleep quality.
