Case Registered Against Three in Rs 50 Lakh Land Scam; Chargesheet Filed by Crime Branch Kashmir

Srinagar, December 20 : The Economic Offences Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet in a Rs 50 lakh land fraud case, naming three accused for allegedly duping a buyer during a property transaction in Srinagar.

The accused—Mohammad Afzal Sheikh from Gopalpora Chadoora Budgam, Mohammad Sikandar Dar from Chenabbal Meergund Pattan Baramulla, and Ali Mohammad Dar from the same area—used forged documents and misleading site details in September 2022 to convince the complainant to purchase four kanals of land.

Investigation revealed the buyer was shown accessible land under Survey No. 207, while the actual sold plot was Survey No. 94—a wetland with no proper access. The EOW stated the accused colluded to deceive the buyer, leading to judicial proceedings.
