Amritsar, March 18: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from North constituency Akshay Sharma has welcomed the party’s initiative of assigning key national responsibilities to Sikh leaders, calling it a reflection of the BJP’s inclusive and forward-looking approach.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Sharma said the party’s policy demonstrates deep respect for Punjab and the Sikh community. He expressed special happiness over the appointment of Sardar Tarunjeet Singh Sandhu as the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, stating that Sandhu’s extensive diplomatic experience, clean image, and strong administrative abilities make him highly suitable for the position.
According to Sharma, Sandhu’s leadership will not only provide new direction to Delhi’s development but also serve as a strong example of the BJP’s merit-based politics.
He also appreciated the contributions of prominent Sikh leaders within the party, including Captain Amarinder Singh, Hardeep Singh Puri, Ravneet Singh Bittu, Iqbal Singh Lalpura, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, R.P. Singh, and Satnam Singh Sandhu, saying they are strengthening the voice of the Sikh community at the national level.
Sharma added that the inclusion of experienced leaders such as Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi and Kewal Singh Dhillon has further strengthened the party’s organizational base. He noted that senior leader Jagmeet Singh Brar joining the BJP, along with leaders like Ripjit Singh Brar, Charanjit Singh Brar, and Prof. Onkar Singh associating with the party, indicates that people of Punjab are increasingly viewing the BJP as a strong political alternative.
To strengthen the organization at the district level, Sharma also welcomed the decision to assign responsibilities to grassroots leaders including Dayal Singh Barkandi, Dheeraj Singh Dhoti, Gurpreet Singh Khukha, and Sukhpal Singh Bebekwali.
He concluded by stating that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,” the BJP remains committed to Punjab’s holistic development and aims to pave the way for transparent and development-oriented governance in the state.
