Bahra University, Shimla Hills, successfully organized a seven-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on the theme “Artificial Intelligence in Quality Teaching and Research” from March 19 to March 25, 2026, under the aegis of the UGC’s Madan Mohan Malaviya Mission.
The program witnessed active participation from more than 200 academicians and researchers from across India, along with international education experts, making it a strong platform for national and global academic dialogue.
The FDP was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Rajesh Kumar Dubey, Director, UGC-MM TTC (HRDC), and coordinated efficiently by Dr. Vikesh Kashyap, FDP Program Coordinator at Bahra University.
One of the key highlights of the event was an expert lecture by Dr. Narendra K. Rustagi, Director of the Center for Global Business Studies at Howard University, USA, who spoke on “AI and Quality of Education: Challenges and Opportunities.” Additionally, Prof. Kaumudi Saxena shared insights on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and ICT integration in education.
Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) K.K. Dhawan delivered a session on “Application of AI in Research: Data Analysis and Statistics,” emphasizing the transformative role of artificial intelligence in academic research and data-driven decision-making.
Several distinguished academicians from reputed institutions across the country also delivered expert lectures, including Prof. V.P.S. Arora, Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Dr. Ashok Sharma, Dr. Rangaiya, Prof. Chander Mohan Gupta, Dr. Harsimran Kaur, Dr. Soni Singh, Prof. Subhash Midha, Dr. Anil Mehta, Mr. Sushant V. Pai, Dr. Eramla D. Dayal, Prof. Chandravadan Goritiyal, and Prof. (Dr.) Sangeeta N. Pawar. They discussed emerging themes related to artificial intelligence, research innovation, education quality, and academic transformation.
The FDP covered contemporary topics such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Academic Leadership, Ethical AI, Sustainability, and Multidisciplinary Education, aligning closely with the objectives of the National Education Policy 2020.
Reaffirming the university’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) K.K. Dhawan emphasized the institution’s focus on integrating advanced technologies into higher education. Meanwhile, Rayat Bahra Group Chairman Sardar Gurvinder Singh Bahra stated that such initiatives play a crucial role in preparing educators for future academic challenges.
