Amritsar Rural Police Arrest 3 Drug Smugglers With 1.1 Kg Heroin Under ‘War Against Drugs’ Drive

3 Held With 1.1 Kg Heroin in Amritsar Rural

Amritsar: In a major crackdown under the ongoing anti-drug campaign “War Against Drugs,” the Amritsar Rural Police arrested three accused and seized 1 kilogram 100 grams of heroin during a special operation.

The action was carried out under the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police Sohail Mir and under the supervision of Superintendent of Police (D) Aditya Wariar. The operation was conducted by the Special Cell of Amritsar Rural.

Heroin, Bike and Drug Money Seized

Police recovered the following items from the accused:

  • 1.1 kg heroin (packed in two yellow tape-wrapped packets)
  • Black kit bag
  • Black CT100 motorcycle (without number plate)
  • ₹35,000 drug money

A case (FIR No. 55 dated 20.02.2026) has been registered under Sections 21-C, 25, 27-A, 29, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act at Gharinda Police Station.

Accused Identified

The arrested individuals have been identified as:

  1. Malkit Singh alias Bugga, resident of Dhanoe Kalan
  2. Karandeep Singh, resident of Dhanoe Kalan
  3. Jugraj Singh, resident of Khapar Kheri

How the Operation Unfolded

Acting on a secret tip-off, the police set up a naka (checkpoint) under a bridge near village Khurmania. During checking, two youths riding a motorcycle were intercepted on suspicion. In the presence of the DSP Sub-Division Attari, the kit bag was searched as per legal procedures, leading to the recovery of heroin.

During interrogation, it was revealed that the consignment was meant for further supply. Based on disclosures, the third accused was also arrested.

Investigation Continues

Police officials stated that forward and backward linkages of the accused are being thoroughly investigated. More arrests are likely as the probe continues.

Amritsar Rural Police reiterated that strict action against drug trafficking will continue in the future as part of the state’s intensified anti-drug drive.
