Amritsar Press Club Gets Firm Pledges from Sandhu on Airport, Tourism Boost

Former US Ambassador and Amritsar Lok Sabha in-charge Tarnjeet Singh Sandhu addressed a “Meet the Press” event at New Amritsar’s Press Club, fully endorsing media concerns and vowing maximum efforts for resolutions.

Key Promises

Sandhu ruled out privatizing Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport at any cost, stressed ramping up its underused 5% cargo capacity, and called for 3-4 day visitor stays to skyrocket Guru Nagri tourism—citing EU-India pacts benefiting farmers and locals.

Club Demands

Hosted by President Rajesh Gill, requests included gym/auditorium/rooms at the complex, ground landscaping, toll exemptions for accredited journalists via Highway Authority, and global press club tie-ups; Senior VP Jaswant Singh Jas thanked Sandhu, confident of priority action. Attendees: Gen Secy Maninder Moga, VP Vipan Rana, Secy Satish Sharma, Treasurer Kamal Kishor Pahalwan, plus district journalists.
