Under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and the guidance of Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police continued its intensified crackdown against anti-social elements, gangsters, and drug traffickers through coordinated policing operations.
On March 19, a large-scale CASO (Cordon and Search Operation) was conducted across all three zones of Amritsar Commissionerate under the directions of Special DGP Railways Shashi Prabha Dwivedi. The operation was carried out under the supervision of concerned Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs).
A total of 385 police personnel, including 3 ADCPs, 5 ACPs, 5 SHOs, NGO staff, and special teams, participated in the operation. CASO drives were conducted at six locations — Anngarh, Gujjarpura, Gumtala, Mustafabad, Maqboolpura (Gali No. 2–12), and Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Flats.
During the operation, thorough verification of suspicious individuals and persons currently out on bail was conducted, and their activities were closely monitored to maintain law and order.
Zone-wise Operations
- Zone 1: Led by ADCP City-1 Vishaljeet Singh, operations were conducted in sensitive areas of Anngarh and Gujjarpura.
- Zone 2: Under ADCP City-2 Srivenela, CASO actions were carried out in Gumtala and Mustafabad.
- Zone 3: Led by ADCP City-3 Harpal Singh, operations focused on Maqboolpura and adjoining flats.
With this operation, Amritsar Police has conducted 17 CASO drives in 2026 so far, reflecting a proactive approach toward crime prevention and maintaining public order.
Major Achievements (Jan 1 – March 18, 2026)
Under the NDPS Act:
- 404 cases registered
- 693 persons arrested
- Seizures include:
- 24.956 kg heroin
- 7.130 kg opium
- 0.523 kg methamphetamine (ICE)
- 0.240 kg charas
- 4,560 capsules/tablets
- Drug money worth ₹17,33,630 recovered
- 17 vehicles seized (6 four-wheelers and 11 two-wheelers)
Under the Arms Act:
- 21 cases registered
- 50 persons arrested
- Recoveries:
- 48 pistols/mausers
- 1 revolver
- 49 magazines
- 150 live cartridges
- Hawala cash worth ₹3,80,000 recovered
Officials stated that these sustained and focused efforts highlight the Amritsar Commissionerate Police’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks, curbing drug trafficking, and ensuring a safer environment for citizens.
