Amritsar Police Bust Vehicle Theft Gang, 2 Arrested

Amritsar Commissionerate Police have successfully busted a two-wheeler theft gang and arrested two accused, recovering six stolen vehicles including five Activas and one Hero Honda Splendor motorcycle.

The case was registered under FIR No. 35 dated March 20, 2026, under Sections 303(2) and 317(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Majitha Road Police Station, Amritsar.

The arrested accused have been identified as Harpal Singh alias Rana, a resident of village Kotla Duma Wala on Ram Tirath Road, and Karanpreet Singh alias Kannu, a resident of village Hetampura, Amritsar Rural.

The operation was carried out under the directions of Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar (IPS), guided by ADCP City-2 Shrivennila, and supervised by ACP North Gagandeep Singh. The police team was led by Inspector Ranjit Singh Dhaliwal, SHO of Majitha Road Police Station.

According to police officials, ASI Avtar Singh along with his team was on patrol duty on March 20 near Guru Nanak Dev Hospital when they noticed two young men riding a black Activa without a registration number near the new hostel building on Circular Road. Upon spotting the police, the suspects attempted to turn back, raising suspicion.

The police team quickly intercepted and detained the suspects. During questioning, the riders confessed that the Activa was stolen.

Further interrogation of the accused led to the recovery of four more stolen Activas and one stolen motorcycle. In total, police have recovered five stolen Activas and one motorcycle so far.

Police officials stated that further investigation is underway to identify additional members of the theft network and uncover other related theft cases.
