Amritsar Police Arrest Proclaimed Offender in Drive

The Commissionerate Police Amritsar carried out a special campaign targeting anti-social elements and suspicious individuals, leading to the arrest of a proclaimed offender.

Under the supervision of Inspector Baljinder Singh Aulakh, Station House Officer of B-Division Police Station, a police team apprehended Gurtej Singh, son of Chanchal Singh, a resident of Village Verpal Kille Wali Patti under Chatiwind Police Station in Amritsar Rural.

Preventive Action Registered

Following his arrest, preventive legal action was initiated against the accused. A Daily Diary Report (DDR) No. 62 dated March 25, 2026, was registered under Sections 126 and 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) at Police Station B-Division, Amritsar.

Accused Previously Declared Proclaimed Offender

Police officials revealed that Gurtej Singh was already wanted in an earlier criminal case registered as FIR No. 95/2017 under Sections 454 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Chatiwind Police Station, Amritsar Rural.

He had been declared a proclaimed offender (P.O.) in that case and was absconding from law enforcement authorities.

Ongoing Police Campaign

The Commissionerate Police stated that such special drives will continue to maintain law and order and curb criminal activities in the city.
