Amritsar Customs Busts Ganja Smuggling, Passenger Arrested

Amritsar: The Amritsar Customs department has successfully foiled a major drug smuggling attempt. On April 6, 2026, a passenger arriving on iFlight SL-214 from Bangkok at Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport raised suspicion during APIS profiling and baggage screening.

Upon inspection, authorities recovered 964 grams of ganja concealed in four sweet/food boxes carried by the passenger. The seized drugs are estimated to have an international market value of approximately ₹0.96 crore.

Customs officials acted immediately, arresting the passenger and initiating a detailed investigation. Further inquiries are ongoing to identify the network behind this smuggling attempt.

The department emphasized its continued vigilance to prevent illegal drug trafficking and safeguard public health and safety.
