Union Home Minister Amit Shah today paid tribute to freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, popularly known as Veer Savarkar, on his death anniversary.
In a social media post, Mr. Shah described Savarkar as one of the prominent heroes of India’s freedom movement who fought against British rule while also advocating for cultural freedom. He said Savarkar provided an ideological foundation to the independence struggle through his revolutionary ideas and bold campaigns, both in India and abroad, including during his time in England.
The Home Minister highlighted Savarkar’s efforts toward social reform, noting his commitment to the eradication of untouchability and the promotion of women’s education. He praised Savarkar’s life as a saga of sacrifice, dedication, and bravery.
Mr. Shah said that the legacy of Veer Savarkar will continue to inspire generations and remain a guiding light for every patriot dedicated to putting the nation first.
Veer Savarkar remains a significant and often debated figure in India’s history, remembered for his contributions to the freedom struggle and his socio-political ideas.
