Union Home Minister Amit Shah today paid tribute to freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, popularly known as Veer Savarkar, on his death anniversary.

In a social media post, Mr. Shah described Savarkar as one of the prominent heroes of India’s freedom movement who fought against British rule while also advocating for cultural freedom. He said Savarkar provided an ideological foundation to the independence struggle through his revolutionary ideas and bold campaigns, both in India and abroad, including during his time in England.
