Akshay Sharma Slams AAP Govt Over Amritsar School Bomb Threats

BJP’s Akshay Sharma Targets AAP on Bomb Threats

Serial bomb threats targeting reputed schools in Amritsar have triggered panic among parents and students, escalating political tensions in the state. Senior BJP leader from Amritsar North, Akshay Sharma, has strongly criticised the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government over what he termed as a serious failure in ensuring public safety.

Reacting sharply to the repeated bomb threats, Sharma said that the foremost duty of any elected government is to guarantee the safety of its citizens, especially children. He alleged that the current Punjab government has sidelined critical security concerns and is treating rising crime as a routine occurrence.

Calling the threats an attack on Punjab’s future, Sharma said, “This is not just a threat; it is an attack on the next generation. If school-going children do not feel safe, how can Punjab’s future be secure?” He added that deteriorating law and order has created an atmosphere of fear, forcing many youths to look abroad for better and safer opportunities.

Taking aim at the government’s much-publicised “Yudh Nashe Virudh” campaign, Sharma claimed that the anti-drug initiative remains largely confined to social media and official documents. He alleged that ground realities show drugs continuing to erode the state’s social fabric, with questions even being raised about police and administrative involvement.

Commenting on recent police encounters in the state, Sharma described them as appearing “fake” and questioned whether the government was focusing on statistics rather than apprehending real culprits. He said such incidents create suspicion instead of restoring public confidence.

Expressing concern over the lack of progress in tracing those responsible for the bomb threats, Sharma criticised the administration for appearing directionless. He also targeted Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, questioning his silence on such a sensitive issue and demanding swift and decisive action.

The BJP leader warned that if the security situation is not improved and the perpetrators behind the threats are not exposed soon, the party will launch a major public agitation to safeguard children and protect citizens’ rights.

The political confrontation comes amid growing anxiety among Amritsar residents, as authorities continue their investigation into the threats.
